Things To Do in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: 4-Day Cabo Itinerary
We had a great 4 days in Cabo exploring and relaxing.
Back in 2003, I took my first international trip as an adult to Cabo San Lucas. In those days I worked for a regional video rental chain. Netflix was on the horizon, but in 2003 things were really good for video rental. The company I worked for flew us to Cabo for boring meetings in a ballroom in exchange for Palomas poolside on the company dime.
After we booked this trip I was most looking forward to a little bit of travel nostalgia. I’ve never really visited a location twice in a way that I could appreciate the passage of time. Walking the same streets 17 years later brought random pleasant memories from my first trip.
How To Get an Uber at San José del Cabo International Airport
We landed at the San José del Cabo International Airport. Uber is banned from pickups at the airport, but between terminals one and two is an OXXO mini-mart (basically Mexico’s version of 7-Eleven.) Uber is allowed to pick you up there. We paid MEX$800 to take us the 45 minutes from the airport to the Marina district where we booked four nights at a VRBO.
We unpacked and got situated in the condo before hitting the streets for a quick dinner and some Saturday night drinks. We called it an early night to be fresh and ready for the next morning.
Are Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas The Same Place?
Yes. Los Cabos, Cabo, and Cabo San Lucas are names for the same place. It’s the place so nice they named it thrice!
Places to Eat in Cabo
We loved the huevos rancheros from Mama's Royal Cafe where they also claim to have the world’s best French toast.
We also enjoyed some amazing dinners at Mi Casa and Isabel Restaurant.
Places to Shop in Cabo
There is no shortage of tiny tourist-oriented trinket stores that look the same and sell the same cliched souvenirs. It’s always fun to poke around these stores. The Zen Mar Mask Store (Galerías Zen-mar) breaks the mold with some really cool Mexican handicrafts at reasonable prices. Also worth a visit, Cobalto Pottery, has beautiful ceramics and hand-painted tile.
A nice walk along the marina leads us to the Puerto Paraiso shopping mall. Inside were a few clothing stores worthy of a visit, but I most enjoyed escaping the midday heat in the mall’s air conditioning.
Cabo Sunset Cruise
That evening we took a wonderful sunset cruise to see the famous Los Cabos sea arch. We sipped unlimited drinks while watching the sun drop below the horizon. It was the best thing we did in Cabo.
